    stock 17" wheel replacement opinion

bought the car over a month ago from a private party. few days later the wife pointed out a dented front wheel... felt some light vibrations at hwy speeds so I had the wheels and tires balanced. completely smooth ride now. but I cant leave well enough alone. I didn't want the dented "ugly" wheel so I bought a used one on ebay. from my searching I found two types of wheel finishes for this wheel painted silver and polished alloy. I purchased the polished alloy. once it got here I can see its not exactly the same finish. if I send it back theres a $50restocking fee plus I pay for shipping. (cost $150 on ebay) what would you guys do? keep the replacement wheel and mount it? send it back and eat the restocking and shipping fee?

It almost looks like your originals are chrome, if not they were very well maintained because the polished finish Definately fades over time & starts to look dull. If the originals are in fact polished you should be able to go to any local wheel shop & have the 1 you just bought re-polished to match the OE's, if your OE's were chromed then ask that same wheel shop where you can have the new one Chromed.

Straightened wheels are always suspect but I've never had an issue with one.

I knocked an inch-long chunk out of the lip of a rear staggered 17" last year, finally had it fixed, this year, and besides the TINIEST bit of bluing where they worked, on it, and I know it's there only because I was looking, very closely, for anything, it's perfect.

Either find a local Mobile Wheel Repair franchisee or take a look in www.wheelcollision.com.

Those are the original chromed wheels. Not cheap. Hard to repair correctly.
