Maybe the first owner never took the car radio out of his/her xm account? Considering it charges once a year (and you have to cancel to stop it), it's possible the first owner hasn't realized yet he is still paying for it. If this is the case, as soon as their credit card expire - your radio will go away.

I seem to recall that there was a "lifetime" subscription in the early days of xm/Sirius. The lifetime was for the device, not the person.
So, maybe that's why or what atlrus said.

I assume the Original owner paid for the lifetime subscription as it was only a few hundred if I recall correctly.
They may or may not have been aware that it is non-transferrable.

I had an 04 SRX that came with a lifetime subscription to sirius/xm. At first I didn't realize it was a lifetime subscription and when I called sirius/xm to add something they could not find my raidio. At that point I kept my mouth shut and just enjoyed the heck out of free sirius/xm radio for the next 4 years.congrats on getting free satellite radio and enjoy!
