I can't help it, it bugs me.
Is there a consensus on the best replacement rotors for this rather dense automobile? While I'd like to go slotted/drilled, I've had rather questionable luck with drilled in the past, and that's more material removed which could be soaking up brake heat.
While I'd like to say "cost is no object", it kinda is. I'm not shooting for bottom-of-the-barrel, but at the same time, I don't want to drop $500 on a pair of discs.
shameless madtuner plug: I LOVE how my transmission does pretty much what I tell it to, now. you want 5th gear @ 28 MPH? Done.
Stay in 5th until you're at about 90% throttle? Yep, it'll do that, too, if you tell it.
And crisp shifts! LIKE THEY SHOULD BE!!!!!
I don't want some slurred 1 second shift. I want BAM, next gear, done.
Sometimes your brake pads/rotor can get some glaze on them. I would try a couple aggressive stops (safe place of course) and see if you pulsating brakes resolve themselves. Actual brake rotor warping is a lot less common then complainants realize.
I recommend Slotted, NOT DRILLED, rotors.
This way, you have the wiping action without the loss of mass.
Drilled rotors are recommended in extreme conditions.
Daily drivers may not need this technology.
Its NOT the question of soaking up heat,
but, dissipating the heat !
