    Wood inlay on shifter

    Hey all- has anyone ever replaced the wood shifter inlay on an 07 STS? Mine lost its shine. How do you get the knob off?

    Cool Re: Wood inlay on shifter

    Slide down the "chrome" ring, exposing the allen set screw, (Facing aft), and go from there.
    If loosening the screw, does not do it, try removing the set screw.

    There is a procedure in the Factory Service Manual for refinishing the wood.

    Nob doesn't need removed

    Open the arm rest and pry up the plastic trim around the edges

    I think he's referring to the wood on the shift knob.

    Does anyone know where to find just the replacement wooden inlay? Mine is cracking and falling off in pieces! Replacing the entire shift knob new is $150. :-( 07 STS4

    I have one, bought it for my dads without wood till he totaled it and bought an 07 with wood.
