    Exclamation Dim Nav Display

Every cold morning when I start out the Nav display is so dim I can hardly see it. After five minutes or so it is fine. I had the same problem with my 2002 STS and began to think it was normal. I haven't seen anything about it on the forum so maybe it is a unique problem with my car.

    Anybody else having this problem?

    Re: Dim Nav Display

LCD screens have a much higher operating temperature requirement than CRT screens. Typically 41° to 122°F. The same would be true of a portable device with an LCD screen, for example I had a Magellan 750M portable navigation and it behaved the same way. If you left your cell phone in the car and it reached a very low temperature while turned off (if on the phone should remain warm enough) the screen would act the same way.

very true, LCD behaves very strange when its very cold i have found with my various electronics. I would say it may be normal cant really say if my escalade nav screen does it cause its always garaged at work and at home. So the inside never gets too cold.

This is normal. On cold days it take a few minutes for the screen to warm up.
