    Back to a Cadillac

After 15 years of driving BMWs I'm back to Cadillac. BMWs were fun to drive but a Cadillac is in a class of its own. I picked up a used 2005 STS for driving back and forth to work (50 miles of country roads roundtrip).

It's Platinum with Cashmere interior and best I can figure out, the only option it's missing is the HUD. Still trying to figure everything out. With only 45k miles and a Carfax showing oil changes/dealer-recommended maintenance every 3-5K miles I couldn't pass it up.

So now I have to learn the nuances of the car. I figure belonging to this board would be a big help.

    ...this car can't be a "Platinum", if it's a 2005 model...a 2005 or 2006 Platinum STS doesn't exist...

...the luxury "Platinum" STS / "Platinum" option "W21" on STS was first introduced with 2007 model year...

    ...anyway...some further information:

RPO Code "W21" APPEARANCE PACKAGE CADILLAC PLATINUM EDITION

btw...here one of the very rare 2007 Cadillac STS Platinum with detailed pics:

I'm betting he's referring to the color silver smoke as platnium not that he has the platnium level trim.

Congratulations! I have an 05 STS V8 4 and love the car. I went from a Honda to this car. Wow! 0-100 literally! Enjoy!

So how do you find out what packages the car came with. From what I can tell it has most gadgets with the exception of the HUD.

    Re: Back to a Cadillac

www.compnine.com and put in your VIN to get a full decode, sometimes the site is free other times it is not.

However in the trunk there is a listing of the RPO codes on a silver sticker where the spare tire is, this lists off the codes.
    Some of the common ones we know and love are 1SA, 1SB, 1SC, 1SG, FE1, FE2, FE3, FE4, F55, JE5, JL9, J56...
Short list of various Equipment groups are the "1S*", Suspension related with the "F*", brakes are the "J*" above.
There are lots of codes for different features, those are just some from the top of my head.

Also, some dealers will be nice enough to give you a 'build sheet' which is basically what compnine does for you.
It will list out all the RPO stuff and service date and warranty usage if you get the dealer version (at least mine did).

    Hi mzznlink,

You are welcome. If you private message us or Email at socialmedia@gm.com with "ATTN LAURA" in the headline, with your VIN, I am more than happy to provide you with the RPO codes for your vehicle.
