2007 STS 4 V8. 65k miles. Silver, seems to have all options. $17,900. So excited! Any issues I should check for before ponying up the cash?

Got a build sheet?

I read here a couple weeks ago that compnine.com will do one on a VIN for joining.

Trim level 1SF may be optioned up to be little (if any) different than the 1SG with 18" wheels, JE5 brakes, FE3 MRC shocks, HID, vented seats, auto high beams and my personal favorite K59 adaptive cruise with HUD.

----------

Don't let Danny bum you out. Used car market prices were in the tank from late 2007 through 2010; first from the RE market bubble pop & market crash and then from the recessesion and cash for clunkers. It was immoral to destroy that many servicable automobiles and it was all done to pump new car sales.

2 Examples: My wife bought her 2007 STS for half the list price in April of 2008 with 11,000 miles on it. She couldn't get CPO because it had been a rental, but that's quite a car for under $30K. My 2006 was under a third of list in December 2008. Sure, it was coming off a 3-year lease but I got a CPO warranty that was then identical to a new car warranty. I paid under $22K and it had 38,000 miles.

Your silver beauty may not be a price leader in every market but I challenge anyone to find a car with more high-end features at that price point.

Looks to be a 1SG according to that RPO break down...I'm sure she's a beauty!

Not seeing the adaptive cruise or heads up display though...that's disappointing.

Not everybody likes the ACC, my wife doesn't. Likewise with a sunroof, she loves hers and I rarely use mine. Fortunately, the STS offers so much legroom, very adjustable seating and generous headroom, a sunroof rarely consumes needed space.

On the other hand, I just don't understand why Cadillac deleted the factory spoiler (T43). And I am convinced the HUD really gives life to the Navigation system. I love the big Nav screen but my turns all show up right in front of me! I usually leave the 'turn-by-turn' audio off because the HUD provides just about all the info the driver ever needs.

It sounds like an exceptional car. You can expect many happy miles. But make sure you test drive it first and make sure it isn't 'almost' what you wanted. These cars are not easy to modify. If this one is equipped the way you prefer, buy it. For example, I'd question AWD. Do you get snow more than than three times a year? Must you go regardless of road conditions? If you can answer no to either question, I'd recommend AGAINST AWD. It's expensive and adversly affects the ride.

Regardless, you've found a cherry. Pluck it if it's your cherry!

really?

First off I think $17,900 is high for the price of the car that is being looked at...but I get if its the perfect color, local etc why you would pay over market

as for being what they worth 4 years ago

Question for you...what is my car worth?.....I bought it a little over 4 years ago

2005 white diamond/black leather 1SG V8 AWD w HUD and ACC( every available factory option for 2005)...71,000 miles....and 4 months of extended warranty left( $68,300 window sticker if it matters)...very good to excellent condition, new tires /brakes/rotors all the way around with less than 1500 miles on them
I am thinking about $12K...?

...and yes I paid more than $12K when I purchased it

if it was worth what it was 4 years ago..trust me I would sell it today

I just dont think that is accurate

The talk about price has gotten everybody off the topic you were originally asking about.

This car has the Magnetic Ride Control, which means VERY expensive shock replacemet cost. These shocks are oil filled. Inspect all 4 and make sure that none are leaking. If any are, make the dealer replace them before buying.

You will love this car!. I've had my 2006 for six months and its a joy to drive.

agreed...that was the reason I thought it was time to trade in my 02 STS at 128K...as the cost to replace those shocks was more than the car was worth

which...as I have said before...a high cost to repair car with a low relative market value gets to the junkyard quickly

On another note

I had an 01 Aurora V8 as well for a while..at the same time I had the 02 STS with magnetic ride control

A new set of Monroe shocks on the Aurora for about 25% of the cost of Magnetic ride control set up was a pretty close set up

The only thing the Aurora gave up to the STS was a very small amount of body roll at higher speeds

Maybe a $500 difference...while the cost difference between the two set ups was $3K

The $17,900 is what the dealer is asking. Blue Book and NADA are pretty close for this area. Of course I plan to haggle! Thanks for all the responses.

In regards to the suspension leaking, where might I see an oil leak?

for a cash deal with no trade involved...you might offer $13k and be prepared to pay maybe $14,250

If the car is at a cadillac dealer they should be able to offer you an inspection record of the shocks

The KNOW how much they cost to replace

was digging around and found a 2006 V8 AWD 1SG with HUD and ACC ..81K miles for $12,900

in the Columbus Ohio area at a GM dealer

Coughlin Automotive
9000 East Broad Street
Pataskala, OH 43062

http://www.coughlinpataskala.com/Ve...dillac-STS-4dr_Sdn_V8-Pataskala-OH/1970607593

makes you think about where the value of these cars really is....this price is around where I thought it should be...and I thought my year older car with 10K less miles is worth about $12K

the $17,900 deal..not so much

You never know the full condition until you see the car and check it out. It does matter if it's exactly the car you want. Personally, I think there's an awful lot of silver & light gray cars on the road. My wife 'settled' for hers.

Opinions vary about AWD. I do like it. But I also like being the guy that always gets to work. What's more, we might get three snowfalls in November or March, let alone in one season. The RWD does well enough on snow tires and AWD isn't needed at all in wet conditions with quality tires and an ability to drive.

IMHO, if it weren't for the crappy OEM Michelin tires, there wouldn't be much demand for AWD.

As far as the shocks, there was an excellent post about six weeks ago about the difference between some normal minor shock grime and a failure of an MRC shock. Mine are still good at 85,000 although I'm hoping that any failure ocurrs before my exrended warranty expires at the end of September.

agreed...however the offering at the the start of this thread was..IMO ..a grossly overpriced vehicle

As you have said before...these cars are a great value. I agree that they are far cheaper to buy used than the competitors...Japanese or German
The other comment that posted earlier about someones car being worth what it was 4 years ago.....seriously?

Used car prices have come up...but it all relative...the gap remains the same and that is what you have to consider. The additional amount that you pay for that Lexus etc(above the STS) is still the same as it was in 2009

On another.note..it looks like the same dealer has a 1SG RWD..07 for $15,900

BTW...not at this location these cars are advertised at ...but this dealer does own a Cadillac franchise

I would say again that this confirms what I thought my car is worth

if GM dealers are selling at this price an individual should subtract about $1000-1500.....which means wholesale is less than $10K for an 06 V8 AWD 1SG
