Ok I'm not knowledgeable on that unit at all sorry. But you should still be able to open it up and see if anything like debris is there that could be causing the problem. If not then I'd take it to the dealer.
2005 sts 6 disc cd changer reading "cd mech error". I disconnected battery cables for 30 min. Didn't reset. Read "cd power error" this was yesterday. Today, reading cd mech error again and won't eject cd's. any suggestions from anyone? Could it be the fuse? I haven't checked that yet
I don't see how it could be a fuse; it gets power. It's not hard to pull the trim & radio; just be careful not to crack it down low where it's thin. Maybe you can take it apart and look for something obvious. You can't hurt it, it's already broken.
You can likely get a replacement from an auto parts recycler for pretty cheap. It will take a trip to the dealer with proof of purchase to get the theft-lock cleared. If you were considering an upgrade to Nav, now might be the time; but it's imperfect and kinda spendy.
I recently swaped out my non Nav stereo with a navigation unit. it was a easy plug and play but had to buy Gps antenna and Nav disc. I purchased a new unit so i did not have to take it to the dealership for any reprogramming.
