Question Dripping under car---not oil or gas...possibly condensation from A/C?

I have noticed that after two seperate one hour drives, something is dripping under the car, and hitting the exhaust pipes, making a sizzling noise. I have a 2006 STS. It is in the direct center of the car, if you drew a line from where the driver door is.

I think it is water from the AC which I recently starting using this season.

Also today, I turned the air on after about 30 minutes of highway driving and some smoke or steam came from the left passenger side air ent for about 15 seconds...

Any ideas as to what is going on?

Since most anything (liquid) hitting the exhaust and then vaporizing, can be evaluated by the smell, that should be a clue. A/C condensate should leave a clear watery puddle under the vehicle (as it generally drips even after the car is parked and turned off); the drip tube may be partially plugged or reoriented from its original path and not allowing for direct draining to the ground.

Thank you for replying. I checked the first time if it was oil, gas, etc. had no odor. I assumed it was water. Was clear and odorless. I will check what you told me about. Thanks again!

A little mist in humid air cooled by AC isn't odd at all. As humid air is cooled, it cannot retain water and fog is the first way it condenses.

Do make sure your condensate drains are clear. Any shop with AllData can do it and many (including your delaer) will do it for little to no charge. If you neglect this, you'll eventually get wet carpets and mold will soon follow.

    Hello rs1812,

I see that you are asking for the community's opinion on this situation. If you are still concerned about what the liquid is that is dripping from underneath your STS, I would be more than happy to assist you in the process of taking it to the dealership to get diagnosed. Be sure to send me a private message with your information, such as your name, VIN, contact info, and mileage. Thanks!

Used to be, A/C drains dripped near the middle of the front of the passenger's footwell.

Not anymore, though. The STS's drips from just about dead-center, under the shift-lever area, which threw me the first time.

It's probably blinker fluid but without a taste test that's just speculation.
