    How to manually read CEL?

    My check engine light came on after startup after not driving my car for a week or so, how can I manually read the CEL?
    Tried searching but didn't come up with anything, thanks

    A GM tech 2 or similar can bus enableded scanner. No on board diagnostics anymore.

    There are lots of scan tools on ebay. I got mine for about 50 bucks.

    The GM Tech II would be nice to have, but really pricey.

    Why would they do away with manually scanning a cel?
    My 06 Ram can manually scan as well as my 2010 370Z >_<

    Congrats? Pay to play. I have a modus and I can read live sensor readings built in obd cannot.

    My guess is as good as yours. My 2001 STS had it...really miss it.
