    stuck on ipod hookup

I bought the clarion cca-750-600 cable for ipod. it has the 30 pin connector and rca cables for audio/video that will connect to cig. charger with a usb. I only got music coming out of the ipod and not the car. 2011 STS. I must need the 3.5 cable, right? also when i press the aux. key on the nav it just shows a video soft key on the screen but no on/off audio like someone mentioned before.
    What's wrong here?

    thanks

You need to select that "Video" soft key, it should start playing the iPod at that point.

I did push that too, but nothing changed. do I need to get the 3.5 that plugs into ipod for headset use?

Interesting, that cable you have should do the trick as it is the same thing that Apple sells.

If all else fails just get a 3.5mm to RCA cable, that's what I use and it works pretty good, just have to use a separate cable to charge the iPod.

Is there maybe a setting on the iPod itself to tell it to send the audio through the 30pin connector instead of the headphone jack?

I seem to recall Apple installing a chip in their genuine cables that the unit had to verify was there and if it didn't (aftermarket cable) it would not work. Just one of the many reasons I sold my iPhone 3GS and went to Android.

I have a lexus that I use this ipod in regularly. I use a cord that has 2 headphone size plugs onegoes in the ipod and the other into the car. I then use the 30 pin plug to usb lighter to charge, and it works perfect.

Yeah, your not using the 30pin for audio in your Lexus. The above poster may be right, it could be that the Clarion cable you have will only work with a Clarion HU when using the 30pin...Just get a 3.5mm to RCA and call it a day

Thanks to all for your help.
I bought the 3.5/audio l&r cable and all is well and sounds great, I saved $26.00 in the process too.
