    ^^^ That sure makes a guy wonder what the differences are and what codes might keep coming up if a DPO cut corners on a previous replacement.

    I have a silly question. I was going to buy the front MRC struts myself and have a friend who owns his own shop put them in. Then someone else told me he would have to have a special tool to do the work and I might as well just cough up the $1800 to have the dealer do the work. Is there any truth to that?

    The tool is probably a spring compressor. That's the only special tool I can think of needed for swapping shocks on the front.
