    No, E-85 requires a flex-fuel certified car.

    DON'T DO IT!

Even if you had a vehicle which can use E-85, MPG drops around 30%, yet the fuel is only about 10% less expensive. It's a false economy.

BTW, this is what people think happens with diesel, as the fuel costs more than unleaded, but they fail to see the 30% gain in MPG for a 10% increase in fuel cost.

E-85 is yet another government cruel joke meant to prop up the Corn Lobby.

If your car is not specifically certified for the crap, forget it.

    Re: E 85 gasoline

You can't even call that crap gasoline...

How it came about was, to satisfy "Alternative Fuel" requirements, E85 was developed because it was just SO Easy to accommodate. All it takes is a sensor to recognize the fuel (again, I'm Not callin' it gas) and have the ECM simply double the pulsewidth to the injectors. Of course, now your 18gal tank becomes a 9gal tank (effectively) and you screw-up your engine oil

And of course, all that corruption money brings to those supplying it. Here on the East Coast we never see it, it just costs too much to have to truck twice as much to satisfy the volume it would replace (despite all those flex fuel badges on the cars around )

Not quite ........... alcohol fuel is less of a carbon, acid, and soot producer than petroleum fuel.

Alcohol, in and of itself, is corrosive to aluminum alloys so it's pretty much of a wash.

Because of it's hygroscopic nature, when changing between fuels, the OM says you should do an oil change in a "Flex" vehicle...
