ashtray won't close I have change stuck behind ashtray and my ashtray won't close, how can I fix this? Re: ashtray won't close If you can't get it out any other way, carefully remove the bezel around the center stack and pull out the ashtray module. I think the bolts are 10mm like those that hold in the radio & HVAC controls. Re: ashtray won't close Just did this yesterday. Remove the trim around the radio stack (held by clips) and then the four bolts holding the ashtray in (8mm). Easy fix. I found that it is easier to work there if the car is in 4th gear. Re: ashtray won't close ^^^ Sorry I had the bolt size wrong!
You may have to loosen some of the other components in the stack to get the ashtray out.
It's not a good spot for coins. I'm not saying this is the case but gm is usually 7mm around the radio/dash areas Re: ashtray won't close You sir are correct...it was 7mm. I was wrong too, Chas! And no more change in there for me! I'll let the dealership fix both my ash trays tomorrow, hopefully they don't charge me out the ass! Reason why is I believe the rear is actually broken not stuck Re: ashtray won't close Yeah, it gets tiresome pounding the center stack on the passenger-side just to open the ashtray. It's a common issue.
I don't think its common to have problems with the rear one. my wife that kicked it out after she got a knee surgery, they fixed both did free lol all because I was interested in buying an ats Re: ashtray won't close Nice - Remember them.
Hope your wife is getting around better. Re: ashtray won't close Just stumbled on this thread, which was fortunate for me because my ash tray won't close either, hopefully I can fix it the same way.
