one or the other? your opinions wanted...

Looking for an AWD STS or SRX...Found a 2006 V8 along with a 2007 V6...both comparable miles (95,000) and both priced about the same around the 13,000 mark. The 2007 V6 seems to be in fantastic shape inside and out...the 2006 V8 is in nice to ok shape. i'm aware of the timing chain/oil consumption problem on the V6...I would probably keep the vehicle till the 150,000 mark...Is it do-able with the V6? Good price?bad price? I would welcome your opinions.

My V6 AWD has 132,000KM and still going strong. Unfortunately at this age things to wear down. Tiffany is going in the shop this coming Saturday to have brand new pads/rotors, lower control arms, and struts installed(all OE parts). Should drive like new, and yes i do have a name for my baby(Tiffany).

Only one car I've ever owned did not have a V8. It will be difficult for me to move to something other than a V8. I've driven a Buick Enclave and Cadillac XTS, both with the 3.6L and I'm just not all that impressed with either. This of course is more an opinion of preference. I think that either will ultimately be suitable for longevity if maintenance recommendations are followed and problems are addressed before they get out of hand.

I have an '08 STS4 with the V6. Runs great and has plenty of power. I'm not sure but does the V8 run on premium fuel? That can be a big factor. I'm very pleased with the V6, it has my vote.

I also have and 08 3.6 DI. I agree with the pastor, that additional HP and DI makes a huge difference.

I have never used anything but 87 Octane ( regular) unleaded in any of the three V8 Northstars I have owned
That factored into my buying decision on cost of ownership...and it runs fine
