    CTS springs on STS?

Ive been trying to find a set of D3 lowering springs for my '11 STS but I guess that they have been discontinued. I was wondering if anybody knows if the D3 springs for a CTS will fit on an STS.
I've been looking at the suspension on my '08 CTS and it looks very similar but I would rather not have to pull a strut off each car to see if they are interchangeable. Any info would be appreciated.

Doubtful. Very little (nothing?) else is the same.

Not so fast. I remember reading in 2008 that they used the STS front suspension in the second generation CTS, in part because it was already set up for AWD.

I'd like to take my suspension in the other direction--softer. The only specs I've found on line is a passing mention that the base CTS spring rates are 300 lb/in, which seems very stiff to me. I believe my Intrigue's front springs were 160 or 180, and that was a slightly lighter car.

Get the springs for the FE1 RPO code to go softer or FE4 to get the stiffer ride. (V springs are FE4)

According to the RPO Codes I got from Katie, I have the FE1, but the constant motion, esp. side-to-side, on our roads is wearing me out. The 3 older FE1 STSs I drove seemed much smoother and more stable, but I drove them in other towns. I was paying careful attention, too, because I knew it would be firmer than my DeVille. We have few potholes or patches, and the main roads I drive were resurfaced in ~2009, but the heat and trucks must have warped the asphalt.

Tires are the quickest way to alter spring rates & influence handling.

Experimenting with tire pressure is almost free and sometimes gives good results. Start with the numbers on the drivers door post.
