    Trunk switch antenna

I know the trunk proximity antenna is located behind the rear bumper cover but how do I access it. Do I have to remove the entire rear bumper cover.
Funny thing mines doesn't work unless the keys are in the trunk.

Could it be on the trunk lid itself? Mine stopped working recently and I now hear something rattle when I open the trunk.

    Re: Trunk switch antenna

Service manual says its in the middle of the bumper (going from memory) now I assume its behind the cover but it might be accessible from under the car without taking the cover off.

    Re: Trunk switch antenna

The antenna actually clips into a plastic bracket that attaches to the rear bumper fascia. The plastic bracket also provides several attachment points for the rear fascia wiring harness. You will need to remove the fascia to access this and if I'm not mistaken, you will possibly need to separate the bracket from the fascia requiring it to be pop-riveted back in place (two rivets total) once any work is completed. I have circled the antenna location in the photo below.

The rivets can be installed with any general purpose pop-rivet gun, however they are a special type of pop rivet that you may find difficult to easily source. I bought mine from GM in a bag of 10, not a bad thing but I did have to wait for them since no one had them in stock.

    Re: Trunk switch antenna

I had this issue while under CPO warranty. I'm pretty sure the dealer removed the bumper cover to replace the receiver. The tab wasn't all that much. They replaced my fobs, first!
