I'd want to compare part numbers to be sure. You'll still have to visit a dealer to match it to your VIN.

Match it to my vin? Does that mean they have to program it to my car in order for it to work?

Correct. The theftlock used by GM to "prevent radio theft" has the radio communicate with other modules to get the VIN number and then it compares that number to what it has stored internally to determine if it should function.

You should be able to install it yourself and just have them program it for labor. It shouldn't really be that much.

Just call and ask them how much.

Our dealer here has a rip off rate of $122.00 per hour. So expect it to be a good bill.

I guess it's all relative. You would think it would be sub 1 hour, but they might make that the minimum.

Still compared to the $700 you already have to pay for the unit........

I'd try a older version map disk before going the full replacement route. As read here many times, most dealers are not aware of the firmware update, and may be assuming since it don't work, it's the unit.

There is another brand new one on ebay where the bid is $299 with one day to go. Not sure if a brand new would have to be untheftlocked, but probably does.
ddalder may know, iwill3rd should know.

That is assuming it really is as brand new as they claim.

If that's the case that would terribly suck, because I've paid them 130 dollars just to see what's wrong with it. So what version do I need? Version 8.0?

So, I guess what we need to know is what part or all of the NAV doesn't work. Is it just the map part or the whole thing or what?

Do yourself a favor......the instructions for checking the firmware version of the NAV system are in in this forum. You just need to find them. You long press part of the screen and enter a code.

Also that thread tells what the new and old FW versions are. If you have the old version still, that's probably your issue and you can tell your dealer to pull their heads out.

The need to upgrade the FW may not apply to your 07, but it's an easy check.

Just be careful in that menu. Don't do anything funky and definitely don't press the button to upgrade. You will have a nice brick in your dash.
