I love em. And DTS CDs also, but it's a drag that no new ones are made.

I keep hoping Blueray will take over for surround in cars, but it seems everyone just wants the convenience of audio files. Convenient, but low fidelity and no surround.

Going to try a little harder now to find DVD-A authoring software?

I still think that will be tough...You'd have to find something capable of authoring the audio into Dolby Digital/DTS, separating the channels, etc...

Unlike many modern 5.1 receivers, the Bose doesn't offer much in the way of signal processing alternatives to synthesize surround; pureists would hate it anyway. The Steely Dan & Beatles DVD-A's are outstanding.

    Like I was saying

Keep in mind with DVD-A discs you have to get it to one of the surround tracks that works....Dolby Digital or DTS. Most discs also have the DVD-A native format, but unfortunately those don't play in true multi channel sound on our systems (big screw up). They sound pretty good though because of the higher bit rate.

Also, DTS CDs will play in multi channel.

You can't make a real multi channel recording without the original multi track masters. Anything else is faking it.

That's what "Centerpoint" does. Sadly that's all the new XTS has.

    Re: Seat Speakers

Jeez...Been looking on Amazon and eBay for new/used DVD-A discs...NOT CHEAP!! Seen some for over $100, most are $30-$50...Why so much? These must have been produced in very limited numbers or something...

I thought CenterPoint sounded pretty good...Absolute GARBAGE compared to the samples on this demo DVD...

Yeah, they've become pricey. Just depends on supply and demand. There are some in high demand now. There are some I'd like, but won't touch at the prices they're at. Sometimes you have to be patient and you'll find one cheaper.

I've ended up with around 50 now, buying over the years. I'm not going to add up what I've paid (dont want to know). I take my disc case out when I drop the car at the dealer or some place.

    Don't forget Half.com.

    Re: Seat Speakers

    From the 2006 Nav manual:

    Center Point:

Select this screen button to adjust the audio to get the best sound quality when listening to an XM™ audio source or CD/DVD. This feature creates a multi-channel experience from CDs containing stereo recordings. This feature is not available in AM, FM, or WX (weather).

I've been told by rear seat passengers that "Normal" sounds much better in the rear than "CenterPoint", I switch between the two the majority of the time.
