    Magnetic ride suspension problem

Hey guys , I was wondering is it possible to change from the original magnetic ride suspension struts to an aftermarket regular strut. Only reason Im asking is that these things are riduculously expensive to replace. Any help would be appreciated.

Most are gonna say "you shouldn't have bought a Cadillac if repairs are to much". Me? I say do what you gotta do.

I'd think you could do it. Only issue I see is the light for a faulty mag ride may stay on bc you wont have a place to plug it back in on the new strut

without it you will see Speed Limited to 80MPH, possibly lower. The car will refuse to exceed that speed.

    Re: Magnetic ride suspension problem

However I will admit that when i unplugged the shock from the car it triggered the speed limited to 80 mph message.
When I unplugged the module from the shock and left it plugged into the car I saw no message (other than my current 120 mph message that is bugging me).
It is likely that this state wouldn't last and the system would figure it out sooner rather than later.

I have heard from earlier Seville owners with the F45 suspension that a simple resistor could be used to trick the system into thinking it's connected still, not sure if that works with F55 though.

Another forum member claimed this wouldn't work with our cars but I'm unconvinced there isn't some trick to be found.

I guess just do some testing front shocks are easy to get access to. Pop off the connector and take your chances.
Like I mentioned earlier I left the module plugged into the car but not attached to the shock and it didn't throw a code, but I also didn't drive it like that.

$1,000 I bet for one MRC shock with labor, or close to it at a dealer.

Replaced right front MRC on AWD 2008.
    Part $559.96 #19150444
    Labor $298.00
Plus alignment ($74.00) in my case.
So yup just shy of $1k and it will be partly dependent on dealer labor cost.

    Re: Magnetic ride suspension problem

Those prices are crazy even to read. Next stop ,junk yards. Doesnt hurt to try and find a shock or two. Ive had pretty good luck in the junk yards in miami ( found a dash and 18" rims).

I tried salvage yards for these struts. Can't find them, only the standard struts.
