    Nav System Map DVD problem

I own a 2005 STS 1SG w/ AWD, HUD, ACC. the problem I have is about every two or three times I crank the car and agree with the warning screen I get a message that the Map DVD is not installed or it is not a Map DVD. However, it is installed and is correct. The only way I've found to correct this isue is to cut the car off wait about 10 minutes and recrank which is annoying. Anybody have any suggestions?

By the way, I understand that the Map DVD cost $900.00 to replace... Can it be copyed?

I have just received an update from the dealer who said this is a softwear issue and GM/STS is aware of it and are working on the problem. Yea! The next question is when will it be resolved???

It happens occassionally to mine too. BUT, this is a common glitch in a few cars. Happens to my dad's Audi A8 sometimes too.

This happened to me once when I first got the car. I figured it was because I didn't know the proper sequence of button or icon pushing. I did not have to restart the car to correct it. It hasn't happened since. I've haven't had the car long and have used the NAV routing seven or eight times.
