Cruise Control / Traction Control Problem

I am new to the forum and looking for help with an ongoing problem I amd having with my 2001 STS. The cruise control is not working ( the power light comes on but the 'cruise control' light won't). The traction control light light on the IP comes on when I put the car in D. I pulled the DTC codes and got C1294 which I think means that the brake light switch is always active. I checked my brake lights with the ignition off and only the trunk mounted light bar was illuminated. I am thinking I need to replace the switch. Where is it located and how to I access it?

This forum is for AWD/RWD STSs. you need to go down a couple of notches to Seville.
