    Fog Lights and Speakers questions

How can I replace the fog lights on '05 STS? Any special needs? These cars are crazy with all they require that I had to ask.

I'd assume just a simple bulb but with these cars I wouldn't be surprised if you had to replace the whole engine or something lol

I think some of the speakers are blown. How do I check and repair?

The front bulbs replacement procedure calls for removal of the front fascia (bumper cover). Take shortcuts at your own risk.

There are vendors that specialize in repair/refurb of Bose components. A few members advocate replacement with aftermarket speakers.

KR - Why ask for trouble?

Thanks, EC. I appreciate the help.

I'll see what the dealer charges to replace the fog lights. I'd like to put in a blue HID in there

How do I figure out which speakers are not working to have repaired/replaced?

    KR - whats the point?

fog lights are simple remove the front wheel start undoing some of the screws in the wheel well to bumper reach your hand back there and take em out. i have a set of hids ordered and on there way to my place for my fogs there just a factory coloured hid nothing special just dont like how the halogen looks when there is a hid low beam. also put your ear up the speaker if its on it works if not its probably blown i cant see a wireing problem in that but you never know i wouldent replace them with anything other than factory, unless you want to buy really good component speakers no pioneer junk or anything lol

Dont even need to remove the wheel or jack the car up...just crank the wheel all the way over, remove the fasteners for the wheel well liner, pull it away slightly, and get your hand back there... 10-15 minutes per side if you go slow.

There is not a Caddy dealer in the world that will replace your stock lights with HIDs. Dealers are there to set the car back to factory specs or OEM upgrades, not upgrade your lights to HIDs, especially when they see (they should already know) drilling holes is involved.

You guys are putting wayyyyyy too much thought into dropping the bumper. If you have a floor jack, dropping the bumper takes 10 minutes even for the most mechanically inept car enthusiast.

Given that many replacements/repairs require the bumper to be dropped, it would be a good idea to learn how to do it.

    Just my .02

There are a few dealers that are in business to make money and will acommodate such requests (for a price).

    What a concept!

Called literally 31 dealers -- primarily because I have nothing to do at work today. Not one would touch HID conversions for any amount of money. Some even went so far as to say they will not install any third-party aftermarket parts whatsoever. One SA (at Sewell Cadillac in Dallas) actually laughed when I asked him.

I will say this; all seem to have been asked the same question 342,477 times -- I could hear the sigh the moment I mentioned HID conversion.
