    Engine making whineing noise.

When I rev the engine in park I can hear a slight really low whine. Even when I drive I can hear it. I wonder what it could be. Any suggestions. 2007 awd northstar...

Have you checked the fluid in the Power Steering Reservoir ?
Had mine (Power Steering Failure) @ about 38,000 miles.Warranty.
Something gave way under the car, took all the fluid out of the Res.
refilled it,But repairs were emminent. Overnight.
If Not this, have a mechanic, do a search to locate the problem.

I thought about that but the reservoir is full. But a couple weeks ago I notice while I was parking the steering wheel was hard to turn until I pressed the gas. That's when i checked the resevoir . Clueless at this point

The old hose trick works. Get a 2 foot legnth of hose and put one end to your ear. With the engine covers off, have a helper raise the RPM's until you hear the noise. Move the end of the hose near the idler pully, alternator, etc.

If the power steering is stiff until you hit the gas a little, the power steering pump has sh!t the bed. This is a common STS problem. Mine lasted 43000 miles.

The tight steering was only a couple times. It isnt doing it anymore. Maybe the power steering pump is going bad and is just letting me know. What the hell Ive had other cars and didnt have this many things go out. My park ave had over 200,000 miles on it. Never had a problem with steering pump or water pump. This is a cadillac, what gives.
