Just replaced my battery. The alarm went off when re-installing.
Now my navigation screen is black. I think i had this issue once before several years ago and it spontaneously
came back on. Its been several hours and nothing.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Pull the Nav fuse for 10 minutes. Reinstall.

If that doesn't work, do the reset procedure (disconnecting battery cables, touch them together & reinstall.)

Ive had luck pressing and holding the eject nav button for 6 seconds, the screen will move in and out, or try pressing the cd eject button or press them both and hold, mine usually comes back on after 3 or 4 eject's...

Re: 2007 STS Nav is Blank/Dead, need help

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I changed my battery today and have the exact same problem...alarm went off and the nav screen is blank and all buttons unresponsive. I tried the eject buttons as mentioned above but no joy. The fuse under the seat on the passenger side is good...I swapped it for another and removed it as suggested. Is there a fuse on in the nav unit itself? Any other ideas?

Try the reset procedure. Disconnect the battery again and touch the cables together for several seconds. Make sure the battery is charged before hooking it back up.

The Navs seem to be sensitive to low voltage and can get in a non-working state until you disconnect the battery. The alarm sounding when you connect the battery is normal.

Well, I pulled the unit from the dash to disconnect and connect the plugs, and as I was pulling it out I heard the internal mechanisms come to life. All is well but I don't know what the deal was.
