    Security

Was wondering about a way to lock the car down if it gets stolen. My friend can get on the Internet and shut his car down if it's stolen. And it'll lock who ever is inside... inside. Kinda like Bait Car. He has an S-600 V12 Benz.

    Re: Security

I'd like to see more information on this. It could be absolutlely disasterous for anyone to have the ability to do this. Disabling a vehicle in the middle of a high speed freeway does not seem like smart thing to do, for the occupants or anyone else on the road. Personally, I wouldn't want a car where the occupants could be locked in. If this system ever malfunctioned and people couldn't get out in a situation such as a fire or collision, it could be very bad. The interior door handles of the STS are linked mechanically to the release mechanism, partly to prevent entrapment.

OnStar has remote ignition lock and gradual vehicle slowdown on some newer models (2009+). Police can request this be activated once it's safe to do so.

Yea... and the last thing I'd want is a thief locked in my car trying to get out.

None of that lock down and engine stop stufff is worth a hoot if the car is on a roll-back. Nobody is going to drive off in your STS unless they have the fob. They're going to have to drag it or haul it.

    Re: Security

I've got a Viper 5902 with glass break sensor, tow sensor, proximity sensor, dual shock sensors, dual 6 way sirens, and an air raid siren......oh, and the horn is still connected as well lol! Needless to say its EXTREMELY loud and people really notice when someone gets too close or bumps into it. Sometimes its more of a PITA with the prox sensor giving its warn aways.....but a warn away is better then it stolen!!! Personally I've had my car stolen twice so I went all out this time and so far I've been lucky!

I beg to differ.... my little brother hangs around a group of "characters" to say the least! One of them got busted a few months back for auto theft. Supposedly they were just using a shaved key and had various computer units they just plugged in and off they went! If a criminal would use half his brain towards positivity the world would be an amazing place!!!
