hello, i am from cts land

just wondering if anybody has experience driving both STS and CTS and could provide some input... i'm feeling adventurous and kind of want to trade in my 04 sport/lux redline cts(27k mi, paid $15k) for this 07 white diamond sts(37k mi, dealership listed @ $20k)... both 3.6l engines except the sts has a sunroof...

please feel free to encourage me or rate the level of dumbass in this decision, thank you STS'ers

First in with the traditional 'good deal if you can get CPO warranty extension with it as well' response.

Certainly the STS is not as sporty (stiff, bumpy, snappy response) to drive as the STS, but the STS is no floating couch on wheels either. I think the interior fit & finish of the mid-life STS should be better than an early model CTS.

The STS, to me, is just 'grander'; a little bit larger, a little bit heavier, a little bit smoother (arguably); just 'Grander'. The trunk is a little larger, the interior a little wider, and if you get the SC (V-6) or SG (V-8), which has more of the toys, more fully equipped. For me, that's what I wanted; so very happy with my STS (started with an '06 and just last month upgraded to an '11, this so I would continue to have a warranty). The STS styling is also a little bit subdued (compared to the CTS) but that's, also, what I want.

Make a number of test drives in sts's. It will soon become clear as to what the answer to your question .... little grass hopper!

No, seriously, take a couple of test drives as many as you need.... even as a passenger (always an interesting perspective).

i test drove a couple cts's amd a cts-v when i bought my sts i loved the sts over the cts the options were great, the heads up, adaptive cruise magnetic ride control i likeed it better decision then the cts i must say but its all in what you feel more comforatable in.

I've walked both sides of the street. The STS has everything you thought you had gotten when you bought your CTS. The STS is a Cadillac. The CTS is more for the young people that never grew up.
