    Re: car in for service

Took the ole ride in today to have an oil change, repair the clanking noise in my shifter and have my drivers door repaired seeing I have to use the key about half of the time to open it up. Well they called me back this AM and said I have an oil leak too. Here she goes again....bad caddy. I got an 11 STS as a loaner. It is shitty. This v6 to me is very slow and doesn't have much pep at all. Maybe because I am used to my v8 but the v6 just doesn't have any power. My 1SG is much better looking and dressed much better that my loaner.

i didn't get any quotes yet. I will get that Monday when my extended warranty rep goes to the dealer to check everything out and gives his approval on the repairs. I will let you know then what they charge for that service.

    Re: car in for service

I have a 2011 STS loaner right now too. I find the V6 to be pretty peppy, but it certainly isn't a NorthStar. I also think my 2005 is a nicer car. My loaner is a 1SC car and I was surprised to learn that Cadillac did away with the magnetic ride control. The lack of wood around the nav screen also sucks. On the plus side, the relocated overhead microphone has made it so I can get the car to actually recognize some voice commands. This one belongs to Enterprise, so it may be some special rental package...it is a 1SC car but doesn't have a rear spoiler either.

Magnaride was never available on the v6. N* only.

Didn't know that...thanks! The rental doesn't have Rainsense either...I thought that was standard on the STS. At least there isn't a sensor in the same place as on my 2005.

Rentals are a different beast. Rental car companies can specify exactly what features they want included and excluded. Look at the build sheet and you will see a code for Enterprise.

    Re: car in for service

Rainsense was canceled company-wide around 2010. I think MRC was available on the 1SC with the performance suspension & steering upgrades. In later years, packages gave way to cafeteria-plan-type conbinations of features. If I found a 2010 1SG with ACC and all the goodies, I'd be tempted to buy it because eventually my 2006 1SG will start wearing out.

EChas3 do you know why GM canceled Rainsense? That is one of my favorite features and actually works very well.

If the ad is accurate, I quote "distance pacing cruise control," it is a 1SG. I don't think ACC was ever available on any trim level other than a 1SG and I wouldn't buy an STS without it.

I don't doubt you. I'm just surprised. Maybe the salesman was talking about the combination of AWD's with ACC being 1SG's. Anyone ever see a V6 with ACC?

Once, I did see dealer sales propaganda (chart) stating that in 2009 ACC was only available on 1SG's.

Who really knows all the variables? I just know how much I like ACC.

Sorry for the mis-quote but I was informed today that to repair the door would be $450 which includes painting the door handle.
