This will be the first year my STS sees snow and of course I waited till the first big snowstorm hit the Chicagoland area to find out how it handles in the snow!! SO I am off to get a winter set tonight, of course almost everyone is sold out but I tracked down a set of Blizzak WS70s. I'll let you know how they handle later!
Wow, what a world of difference!! Going to there I couldn't get above 15-20 mph without sliding on the summer tires. After getting a full set of 225/55R17 Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 tires put on, it was almost as good as my 4x4 Silverado! Okay, maybe a bit of exaggeration but unbelievable the difference. Does any one suggest weight in the trunk or is it not worth it in a car?
I don't see any difference with/without groceries in the trunk when driving in snow with my Blizzaks. For Chicagoland winter driving the winter tires should be more than adequate for anyone except snow plow drivers trying to get to work after an unexpected snow storm.
