    Re: Differential Bushing Replacement

*Don't* buy a stock replacement bushing, it is woefully underengineered (nice way of saying it's a piece of crap)...

Instead, buy the aftermarket solid urethane one from Creative Steel, and rent their tool to install it.
Great customer service, they will answer any questions over the phone that you have about how to do the job.
I took it to a mechanic I trust since it's easier to do on a lift, and they replaced it in just under 1 hour.
My total cost parts, labor, shipping was $250 and the Creative Steel bushing will far outlast the weak stock one.

more info in this thread as well as a few others if you search:

Here's a pic of the sorry looking stock bushing that came out

Can this be done by someone who's mechanical expertise level has never gone past oil changes and spark plugs? I know the Creative Steel comes with instructions and understand why they wouldn't be published online; wondering how advanced if at all the work is. Seems more like patience and elbow grease from what I can gather reading the reviews on here.

I went under the car today. The bushing didn't look bad from what I could see. Looked like a dry crack or something. No idea what it looks like on the other side or on the end that is closer to the front of the car.

Looks next to impossible to work on in there. No room to move around at all.

    Re: Differential Bushing Replacement

I have 58K miles on my AWD V8 STS. I have no rear end clunk and the OEM bushing looks like new. You guys must be doing 4000RPM neutral starts or something.
