    Removing Rear Door Panel

    Hey guys,

So my rear drivers side regulator crapped out on me. I have the new part on hand and need to replace it soon, I had a question about removing the panel on the door. Per alldata it says that a special tool, J 36796, is required for the removal of the panel. Does anyone have a pic of teh tool? I think I have something similar, but I don't want to get in there and break any clips off.

    Thanks,

    matt

anyone have any tips for pulling the panel off? It doesn't look like there is much access at all. Last thing i want to do is break something else expensive.

Probably not what you want to hear, but I would take it to a good body shop. There's nothing worse than a door panel that flops around because of broken tabs or improper placement. Body shop guys have the most experience with this kind of stuff.

Link to pic of the tool in question, not similar to any removal tool I've seen previously.

    Glenn,

I came across that same thing. Sometimes I don't trust those pictures though, as they are more drawings. Harbor Freight has something that looks like it. I'm going to go get it in the morning. I will post up pics.

    Thanks,
    matt

    Re: Removing Rear Door Panel

    Thanks Matt,
I looked at a half dozen links that came up, and all diagrams pictured the same tool, so I'm fairly confident that's the genuine article. I try to do most maintenance on my 3 cars and can see being faced with this same chore somewhere along the road of ownership with this beast. Please do let us know how things work out. Always nice to have a cheaper alternative if it accomplishes the task.

    Glenn,

I got the door panel off, and then it was pretty dark, so I couldn't finish the job. I took a bunch of pictures along the way. I'll post up a somewhat step by step thread tomorrow with pictures and the tools and everything.

It sounds to me like you need a portable polychromatic non-coherent photon generator.
