    headlight question

Does anyone know if the headlamp assembly from the non-hid light can be converted to hid or is there a difference in the housing, I notice a lot of non hid housings for sale fairly cheap compared to hids so if they were the same I thought about buying one and then putting my hid components on it???

    Re: headlight question

There's a thread describing the conversion and a lot of posts describing the shortcomings. Try some searches.

I just replaced my halogen low beams (h11 bulb) with HID's. 100% night and day difference. A pain to remove bumber and install, but well worth it!

Good question. I would like to know also seeing I need to replace my driverside one too. I had both left and right headlights replaced 1.5 years ago at a cost of $1350 each by the Cadillac stealer.....oops I mean dealer and my leftside one went bad already.Does anyone know a definate answer to this mystery. if that will work then I will see about buying one too..

Update: I did some research an found that it could be done but in the long run it's just easier to repair my leaking HID composite. Well Fall is now upon Florida so one sunny mild weekend I will devote to that project.I will drain and clean the composite as much as possible an reseal everywhere I see.

That thread was helpful, but I have a set of OEM HID housings with OEM bulbs, ballasts, etc. I'm about to buy if I can get a definitive answer to one question.

Common sense would lead me to believe that OEM halogen headlight harness is going to be different than the OEM HID headlight harness (e.g. extra pins). Can anyone confirm what the differences in the wiring harnesses are if any? Really really want to buy these, but want to make sure I don't have to hack up my harness to do it.

    Re: headlight question

I recall a thread detailing some fine details of moving pins in the connector. Try the advanced search, limiting it to just this forum.
