Why would the fog light assembly on the STS-V be any different from the fog light assembly on the non-V cars? Isn't just the bumper cover different?

No, they are completely different. The STS-V is 7 3/8" tall by 7 3/4" wide. The normal STS is length across 10 inches by 8 7/8 - 9 tall. So much for that idea.

i fit my stock fogs into a V bumper, i'll put pics up later. basically i trimmed off the top and bottom of the fog lights but left enough to keep it sealed. they are attached to the bumper reinforcement with brackets. it's not perfect but it was cheaper than 600 for new fogs. i don't have them aligned very well though.

Re: Someone measure stock STS fog light assmembly?

here's the pics. it's not a perfect fit and there is a small portion of the fog that sticks into the brake vent but i'm going to paint it black and you have to be on the ground to see it. they also could use some adjustment since the beam pattern is a wide V now but i'll take care of that when the bumper gets repainted. i put pictures of the brackets that hold them to the bumper support as well.

it's not a perfect fit since the contours aren't the same so the top of the light is about a 1/2 inch from the bumper but it's not something you can see unless you're looking up at the light.

    $742 (list price! ouch)
$528 (cheapest price I can offer)

....I can understand why you're missing a grille...
