    Replace belt Tensioner pulley on CTS 2003

    Hi;

    I just bought a used 2003 CTS with the 3.2L engine. I thas 112,000 miles. The belt tensioner pulley is making noise. Is it easier to change just the pulley and bearing or should I go for changing the whole tensioner assembly.

    Are there any tricks on removing the belt? It looks easy but this is my first CTS. What is the best way to relieve the tension on the belt.

    Any advice is appreciated. I'm new to this forum but not new to Cadillac. I previously owned a 1986 DeVille with the 4.1L V8 and a 1983 Cimarron. Both were interesting cars with a lot of memories.

    Thanks for reading.

    Try the CTS forum. You'll likely get more applicable responses because none of our cars have the 3.2.

    nope nothing special to it, changed it on my catera (pretty much same engine), just make sure you put the belt back on in the grooves, routed right and you should be good

    Its cheaper to change just the pulley. The dealer said it was only 50 cents cheaper than the whole tensioner which was $72. So I bought mine of Rockauto.com for 12 dollars

    Please accept my apologies. I posted this message to the wrong forum. But thanks for the advice.
    Anyway, I did change the belt tensioner pulley. It was $17 and the step that took the longest was buying the new part. My total labor was about 15 minutes once I had the parts.
