    2007 STS Power Steering Inop

I have a 2007 STS and the power steering stopped working it was intermitent but now it does not work at all. I was told it could be the power steering actuator whats that. I flushed the power steering fluid twice ( It was dirty) but it still will not work. There are no strange noises never was when you first start the car it seems like its going to work but 15 seconds later the service steering light comes on and it just won't work any ideas please.

I replaced my pwr steering rack at 48k miles after it made tons of noise that the dealer couldn't replicate for about 6 months until they finally heard it and made a diagnosis.

Make sure the pulley isnt just spinning on the shaft (this is a rare case). I'm sure its the pump going bad though. There not that expensive, just check ebay, www.gmpartsdirect.com, or www.newgmparts.com

Do some research before changing out the pump yourself. You need the right tool to change the pulley and getting the fitting loose on the high pressure hose can be a bitch even for a dealership tech.
