2005 Cadillac STS Spark Plug Change

What is needed to change spark plugs on a 2005 Cadillac STS V6? The front two spark plugs are under the intake, does this need to be removed, and if so, how hard is it to remove? If anyone knows of any videos or pdf repair manuals, please share the link. Your help is appreciated!

First you will need at least 100k miles before changing your spark plugs.

I use to have and old Chevy, small block 327. Keep in mind I didnt know about maintanence shedules very much, I use to change my spark plugs about every 3-4 oil changes. I know the engines are very different, but the engine never failed. Just thiought I threw that in there.

With the high quality fuel injection & ignition systems of these cars and unleaded gas, you are more likely to wear out or damage components than do anything of value under the hood.

    1. Use Top Tier fuel
    2. Use Mobile 1 or another GM rated synthetic (changing as the car requests)
    3. Don't skip the scheduled throttle-body service

    Have fun!

Re: 2005 Cadillac STS Spark Plug Change

I have just removed 6 spark plugs on my sts v6. I feel that if you CANNOT figure out how to take intake manifold off, then you SHOULD NOT attempt to do.. Let a professional You MUST remove manifold to remove coils boots and plugs.

I agree with fly 187. I did do my spark plugs and coils though and it wasn't to difficult the worst bolt in my opinion was the back one closest to the firewall/windshield. Other then that probably took me less then an hour or so. I have a few pictures of what I all took off. Anyone know the picture size allowable?

Re: 2005 Cadillac STS Spark Plug Change

The last time I was in for an oil change, they suggested I'd need new spark plugs and informed me it was in and around $400 if my memory serves me. Regardless of what the amount was (it may have been more or less) but do remember being shocked at the amount!

I've replaced plugs on every car I've ever owned. I'm not interested in taking off an intake manifold so pay the piper.

If you could post pics it would be much appreciated. My car is getting a p0303 error code and I am not sure if its the coil or the plugs. Ive got about 75k miles on it now. I have a 2006 STS.
