Cadillac STS Forum - 2005 through 2012 Discussion, Bushing in the rear end in Past Cadillac Vehicle Discussion; Has anyone replaced the bushing in the rear end, when you shift from reverse to drive the clunk in the ...
I just had new tires put on at sears and asked them to look into it, while it was on the lift they showed me, there is a long bolt on the passenger side where this bushing should be. Klunk only happens from reverse to drive and doesnt happen all the time.
These are worthless responses I recieved when I asked:
What makes you think that the noise might be coming from a missing bushing? Which bushing are you talking about?
Doesn't HIPAA prevent us from knowing about his health care problems?
The dealer will take care of it for you.
However I had these bushings replaced in both of my STS's it ran me under $300.00 for parts and labor for each, the dealer wanted over $800.00, so if you have stupid money to spend go to the dealer. It isnt a hard job but the rear end does need to be lowered to have it installed.
Since then no noise
Did you manage to get the part # or see if its on the invoice? I gave them what i thought was the correct number and it was a bolt, he said the bushing isn't replaceable have to do the whole diff carrier which I don't believe at all.
My dealer replaced that bearing for me under the powertrain warranty - I'm past the bumper-to-bumper coverage. I don't remember if he was doing a "goodwill" repair or if this should be covered but check with your dealers.
