    Can someone help me?

I have an 08 Cts 4 with non nav and i want to replace it with a 2011 cts V navigation system faceplate and center console and all. Is this possible? I contact the dealership and they said that it's not possible to swap the nav system because of the wiring. Obviously the don't know so i turn to my fellow cadillac users in this form for correct answer or advice. Can anyone tell that this is possible? Greatly appreciate it.

GM does not have an upgrade path for this so any dealer is going to tell you 'no'

as 1Bad said, there is a thread on this ... it can be done with enough time, money, and skill

i don't recommend it though ... you'd be better off trading up for a 2011 w/ nav in the long run

Re: Added nav to non nav sts! 100% confirmed vid and pics. Thank you polarbear05!!!

i just purchased a 2005 STS non nab with bose. I want to add Nav and Iphone/Ipod connectivity. I spoke with an experienced installer and her mentioned that I would mainly need this harness : http://www.installer.com/cars/by_car.php?carid=6883 which
"Allows installation of an aftermarket radio using the existing factory wiring and connectors
The GMOS-13 is designed to be used on 06-09 Cadillac STS equipped with OnStar and amplified system. It will retain the warning chimes that are lost when the factory radio is removed. The GMOS-13 also provides a 12-volt switched parking accessory output along with mute, parking brake, speed sense (VSS), and reverse outputs for the installation of an aftermarket navigation radio

Has anyone had any luck with this harness. Also do you think it will retain the personalized settings of the original radio? What are your thoughts?

DBB - I recommend you start a new thread. This one is about adding an OEM Nav to a non-nav STS. I think members have done things like you want but they may not notice this.

Can you elaborate on hooking up the VSS wire (2006 Cadillac STS)? You mentioned wiring to the wrong side of the relay??? I just received my factory navigation and antenna. Getting ready to order a Lockpick if it will help with the VSS wire connection. I've seen the photos on this thread of the connection point behind the glovebox and it lookls fairly easy. How do you know which side of the connector brown wire to spice into?!

    Thanks a bunch!

In any case to get a full working navigation unit you still have your work cut out for you. I can attach the wiring diagrams to show all the wires you are missing and they are mostly for voice commands, center channel, subwoofer outputs etc. I am assuming since you are missing the additional connectors you dont have the 15 speaker bose option?
Hello Can you help me with the wiring diagram please. Thanks

Re: Added nav to non nav sts! 100% confirmed vid and pics. Thank you polarbear05!!!

I know this has been answered in about 20 different ways, but here I go...I already have my nav system, ready to go in my non-nav 05 STS. I know I need a GPS antenna. What else do I need exactly, and what steps do I take, and what else do I need, to make this all work CORRECTLY, Bluetooth and all. Also, I know I need an external microphone for the Bluetooth to work properly. Is there a mic available which is plug and play? I only want to do this ONCE - I don't want to have to keep taking out the nav unit to perform another step. I also don't want my car "spinning" on the screen - please explain the whole VSS connection also. I was hoping this conversion would be plug and play, but reading all the posts, it seems that everyone has conflicting information. Please help me! I am just about ready to put MY nav unit back on eBay, if this is going to be more trouble than its worth. Thanks!

I can't recall any member posting 100% success because of the difficulty in getting the call to play back. Playing the Nav turn-by-turn is only a little easier as I recall. The rest is all in the thread except for Ludasrcvp's HUD upgrade (no small job, but one of the better features of the car.)

IMHO, I'd go aftermarket and run that new head-end line-level output into the stock base system XM input. Otherwise, there are other ways to keep the OEM setup essentially intact.

I believe the MICROPHONE is on the center bottom of the rear view mirror, Did the "Pre NAV"install
have ONSTAR, I believe so, therefore the mic is there already.Somehow it changes "JOBS" to do both.
ddalder has a post on here about that.with antennas/how and why/hookups, etc.
    Happy Motoring

The microphone on the bottom of the mirror is connected to the OnStar module. It is shared with the navigation voice control system as well by way of (what I believe) is a pass-through strategy when necessary. There is a second microphone though which is located in the roof center console. This is for sensing ambient noise levels which the audio system uses to make some adjustments to volume level. This works in addition to the built-in stereo function of Speed Compensated Volume.

Many of the factors that present challenges to having this work 100% correctly have already been addressed throughout this thread.

...there must be another connection or some kind of pass-through for the navigation voice control system, cause exports don't have OnStar (and so no OnStar module...there is also no antenna on the roof )
...there is a microphone in/at the bottom of the (export-specs) mirror on export STS's...
