    New to me STS V4

Hi Folks - just picked up a new to me STS V4, it's a 2006 MY, but it has all of the attributes of the 2005 - a 4.6L engine, etc. When did the 4.4L (469 bhp) STS V's come online? I have the original window sticker, and it clear as a bell states 2006. I'm confused

There has been no engine change for the V8's since 2005.. You have an STS 4 (4 Means AWD) not a V, The V is a separate animal and also a large $$$ premium difference.

The big question is; who told you it was a "V"? You were skizzled.

Woops, my bad, not a "V". As to the engine changing, it went from a 4.6L to a 4.4L in '06, IIRC....So, that said, how can I have a 2006 with a 4.6L (at 320+/- bhp) as opposed to the 4.4L with 469 hp?

Who told you it had a 4.4L 469HP engine? This guy needs a conservator.

Thanks for the clarification - I had done some research, and it looked like the line was retooled in 2006 to eliminate the 4.6 and offer only the 4.4L engine. I assumed that since mine was an '06, then it must have been a "V"...you know that thing about making assumptions! Anyhow, you guys have cleared it up for me, which is why these auto forums are priceless! Thanks all

BTW, this is our first Caddy - love the car! Nice throttle response and handling characteristics...more than I was expecting. Look to keep this car for a good long time..

Welcome to the forum. If you want to be even more confused I've got an '06 V8 STS that is All Wheel Drive but it's not an STS4. Nobody has been able to explain that to me.

Maybe they just forgot to stick the #4 on the trunk.. You can buy the #4 if you want and stick it on and you will be like the rest of us STS4 guys.

Just for clarity, only the STS-V has the 4.4L Northstar engine. ALL other V8 equipped 05-08 STS models have the 4.6L Northstar engine.

The reason that the V has a smaller displacement but a much larger horsepower rating is that it is supercharged whereas the regular V8 is normally aspirated.

I hope that clears it up.

Applying the principle of Ockham's razor, the "4" was either left off or fell off.
