Re: That fa*ting noise again

There isn't a TSB or advisory that I'm aware of yet but when asked my Service Manager new immedietely of the issue and had a fix action for it. Although I have the issue I didn't have it done (for other reasons) but he has been straight up with me on everything else to date.

Re: That fa*ting noise again

We were dealing with a seperate issue that I didn't want to get off track of so I didn't dig any further at the time. I'll post it when I talk to him next.

Is it vacuum related?

Re: That fa*ting noise again

I had the same problem months ago and was able to replicate the noise for the service advisor. I called it the seat farts. It is apparently an hvac valve servo (electric or vacuum, I don't know). I think it was a lubrication issue. Capital Cadillac Atlanta fixed it under warranty. No further problems, but it was good for a few laughs for a while...

Re: That fa*ting noise again

I have fixed two of them, it's a clearance issue but heavy lubrication will fix it.

If you turn on the A/C and then press the recirculate button it will do it, press it again and wait a few seconds then press it once more. You'll hear the noise. The cam that drives the recirculation door is tight and it causes a noise on the actuator arm.
You have to remove the glove box to reach the actuator. The first one I did I removed the whole blower assembly to locate the noise, the next one I just lubricated. It's easy once you get the glove box out. If I do another I'll take a picture.
You just have to lubricate the pin off the actuator where it goes into the cam and the noise will stop after a few cycles.

Re: That fa*ting noise again

Back in March I started a thread called "Passing Gas" which sounds like the same sound described in this thread. I finally diagnosed the problem for the dealer and he changed the recirculating actuator, under warranty, and it seems like the problem is fixed.

Re: That fa*ting noise again

My servicing dealer also takes the "lubrication" route and has done several already.

I had them do mine 4-5 months ago and it was still fine when I turned it back a couple of weeks ago.
