That is the benefit of the boards as well. There are several examples of folks that "would" have had to pay if it were not for the info posted here.
Not discounting that there is a definite "issue" nor that folks should let the CSC open a trouble ticket if it should occur. However it is certainly known in the system as to how many windows have had to be replaced. The question then is whether it is in fact limited to a certain number of vehicles; or is it an inherent defect with them all and what if anything would trigger a response.
Regardless, it is still pure speculation (on our part at least) as to how many have really occurred and certainly if they are members of this forum, they would yell...
When I met with my Service Manager, the local GM field rep and a tech who had flown out from Mich. to work on my last car in February I brought this up. They pulled up some parts history's and the rep made a call and at least at that time there was little info to go on. The speculation was that it was more prevalent in cold weather states if it in fact was occurring on a regular basis. My point to them at the time was that for every one person reporting on the board, how many more were out there not being spoken of. The same issue that we will always deal with on any of these items. Just like the CTS guys and their faulty "rear-ends". Certainly one occurrence is one too many but not enough to be overly worried about it happening to everyone.
Of course if mine blows out I might change my mind...
