| Re: Sts Buyer's Age I'm 39 and this is my 7th Cadillac but my first brand new one. I got my first Cadillac when I was 16. It was a 1975 Sedan de Ville d'Elegance that my parents had bought new when I was 8. It was white with the two-toned Medici crushed velour in dark blue. I fell in love with that car and all of it's electronic gadgets. That car would still hold its own today against any Honda or Toyota!
When I started college, I wanted something economical that was a Cadillac and had the Twilight Sentinel feature. My second Cadillac was a fully loaded 1984 Cimarron (stop snickering). I really liked this car. It was small but it had all the options that I liked.
From that I went to the most beautiful 1986 RWD Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance. It was white and had the dark blue velour interior with a rare factory sunroof as well as all the other options.
Then I went to a gorgeous, Black Sapphire 1990 Sedan Deville with the factory gold package and factory sunroof with the dark blue leather interior.
From there, I almost went to 1993 white on beige Allante, something I had wanted for a long time. A relative owned it and let me borrow it for over a month to see if I would like it. It was a great car but ultimately, I did not like the way the car drove and the fact that it only had 2 seats. Instead, I wound up with my first STS, a black on black 1993 with the famed Northstar engine. It was an incredible automobile.
My next one was probably my overall favorite. A marvelous 1998, black on black, STS with every option including the Onstar phone. I loved the way this car drove, rode, the features and overall look of the car. When I would get in, I fit like a glove.
Last year, I purchased the new 2006 STS, loaded with everything except AWD. Upon driving this one, I probably should have gotten it. The car does seem to fishtail in the rain. I'm probably just not used to RWD as all my other cars have been FWD except for the 75. While I do love the car, it just doesn't seem as well thought out as the 98 was, and it is a little smaller. I do love all the gadgets. That has been my mantra for years regarding Cadillacs. They have more features than anything else. I think that I will probably go with an XLR next, unless the new STS catches my eye!
