Gas tank "door" not opening properly. Covered under Major Guard???
Anyone ever had problems with the gas tank door? The spring in there that clicks when you push it and it is supposed to push the door out so you can open it, doesn't work. Sometimes it opens but 90% of the time it doesn't.
If I had fatter fingers I would have to use a screwdriver or something to get it to open.
I did find a TSB on the actual spring.

This bulletin is being issued to inform technicians of additional information regarding replacement of the fuel filler door spring.
If the spring is being replaced for breakage and it occurred during cold temperatures, it may be due to water intrusion. Water may enter through the seams in the housing and freeze. If the spring is pushed in to open the fuel door, the force will cause the housing to separate.
A new fuel filler door spring will be available in the near future. In the meantime, to prevent re occurrence, engineering is recommending that prior to installing a replacement spring, to apply a flexible sealer such as 3M(TM) Clear Auto Sealer P/N 08551, or equivalent, to the voids (1) on both sides of the spring housing as shown in the picture.
No freezing temps down here, not even close.
I stooped by the dealer later Friday but everyone except one service adviser was gone and she didn't know if it would be covered or not.
If it is covered I will probably wait until I go in there for some other warranty work. I have a $100 deductible so it would be smart to wait.

Call gmpp and explain the problem, they can usually tell you if its covered or not without a full dealer diagnostic.
