Driver side door will not open

Remove this ad
Hey guys, pretty new to the forum here. This morning I go to get in my car and the door will not open. At first, I thought it could be frozen since we got our first freeze of the year but it wasn't. It was unlocked just would not open. So I decided to just to use the key and it opened right up and opened fine from the inside. Got out and closed the door again and still will not open by pulling the handle. Anybody had this problem or have and ideas? Thanks in advance!

Re: Driver side door will not open

It's a common problem that's usually a fault in the door handle electronics.

Nobody has reported a cheap fix and some of the repair bills have been startling. Does the LED in the door light up when you raise the handle4?

Re: Driver side door will not open

My passenger door was at one point intermittent for a while. Works 100% of the time now though.

Not permanent solutions, but a couple things you could try are pulling the handle quickly...or try pulling the door handle more towards the pivot end (the side that moves the least/stays with the body of the car). I meant to tear my door panel off and see if there was a loose connection and/or dirty sensor somewhere, but since it works again, I have no reason to.

I still wish they were mechanical..

Best of luck.

Re: Driver side door will not open

After work yesterday it worked just fine and hasn't had a problem yet today so i'm guessing i am having the same problem where it could be just a glich or leaving the car out of the garage on the first night below freezing did it, lol
