New STS - Crooked Wheel?

Can anyone help?

I am a new STS owner and my Steering wheen is not centered with the wheels.

Does that mean I need a wheel alignment?

If the steering wheel is not straight it indicates pothole or crash damage and it could cost almost anything to fix it. It could be as simple as an adjustment and as complicated as several days on a frame machine.

The wheel was straight when the car left the factory and these car are known to hold good alignment. If the wheel is not straight it indicates something happened to it. Maybe it hit a pothole hard enough to bend something or has been in a collision. A good alignment shop will be able to tell you.

The carfax was clear.. The car does track straight.. However when I bought it (last week..its a 2005 w/30,000 miles) I noticed that the front underbelly plastic was hanging down. The dealer said they would fix that before giving it to me.. Well all they did was remove the plactic. Someting must have happened. But since this car tracks straight I think it not major. But I will find out for sure...this week when I find a good shop to do the wheel alignment.. Thanks guys I appreciate your assistance.

I hope you didn't buy this thing as-is with no warranty. Carfax is useless as it will only have registration transfers and whatever information somebody might volunteer which is a 1-10,000 shot. You're better off with a note from the previous owner.

No warranty. Car is great though. Unreal.. beauty. Drives awesome.. Can I buy one now via Cadillac dealer?

If the car is currently out of warranty you are not eligible for a GM warranty.

Ah ok. No warranty for me. I never buy a non manufacturer warranty. its usuall all BS. I think I am going to sears for the alignment.. I only need front alignment correct?

Don't get too alarmed yet. I would go for a 4 wheel alignment while you are at it. It's been a while since I had a 4 wheel alignment, but I would look for a shop that does a lot of these. Alignment machines need constant calibration, and not all shops do that. It may cost a bit more, but usually a safe bet is your Caddy dealer.
