What I'm talking bout is that four different times now I have tried to open my trunk and it will not open. I try the latch, the FOB, and the driver door button and nothing, none of them will open it. I made sure that the valet button in the glove box is off as it has always been. When I push the latch button I can hear it click but no sound of the trunk lever trying to open. I have tried to put pressure or body weight on the trunk and see if its jammed or something, but it didn't work. This has happened four times and when it does it always seems to be at the worst time. Then a little while latter it works fine and opens all three ways.
AND
ON THE MIRROR: I keep my mirror adjustment switch on the passenger side so that when I put it in reverse it makes the passenger side mirror go to the curb. It has always worked that way (as intended) as long as I have the switch to that side. Well, recently, even though the switch is still set on the passenger side, every now and then it will tilt the driver mirror instead. The passenger will not move only the driver. And when it does this and I put the car in drive, the driver mirror does not go back into place. I have to put it back manually. twice when it did this I tried putting it back into reverse two or three times and it kept making the driver mirror go down, and it never would go back I had to keep doing it myself. And all the while the passenger side, which is the side supposed to be going down, is staying in the same spot not moving. It has dont this about 5 times in the past 3 weeks.
I am wondering if these two things are related somehow. I'm starting to think my car is haunted. I am also making a list of some things to fix on GMPP sometime when I take it to the dealer. Because it is off and on, and probably hard to recreate, I would really like to have some ideas on what the deal is so this so I can get them to fix it without having any problems. |

If not, use the electronics reset procedure by removeing both battery terminals and touch them together. Reinstall (may as well clean the terminals unless they are spotless.) |

Oh, I didn't ask... Both remotes? There is a trunk-mounted receiver that could be a culprit. These are complicated cars. |

But now I have anew problem that is somehow related.
It started off when I would walk up to the door with my fob in my pocket like I always do, the door wouldnt open. I would push the unlock button on the fob and it still wouldnt open. I would have to push it three of four times.
Then sometimes I noticed that if I put the car in park for a sec, when I put int in drive it says no fob detected.
I have no idea whats going on but Im pretty sure all this is related. I have tried different fob, and put brand new batteries in them also. I have also checked the battery connections under the hood, and all the fuses.
I know I really need to get it to the dealer. I am just dreading the "we cant replicate the problem" answer from them.
Thanks to everyone who posted. |

Sounds like the sensors. If out of warranty, try the system reset procedure (disconnect battery, touch cables together, reconnect).
Door handles contain sensors, as does trunk. Does the passenger door unlock work OK? |

I don't think it Can be a door senson, or any one senson for that matter, because it's the trunk the door, and the car not "sensing" the FOB for ignition purposes.
I haven't tried the passenger door yet while it is acting up. When it won't let me open the door, pressing the unlock button doesn't work either I have to push it a bunch of times.
It shows around 14 volts on the display, and I have never had it sound like the battery was low either. I may have the battery tested. I do have the GMPP Major Guard warrenty, I just want to get as much info as possible before I bring it in. My local dealership is the hardest place to deal with. I know unless it happens while the car is there they are going to act like I'm crazy. I may end up driving the 30 miles to the next closest Cadillac dealer.
Thanks for all you guys help. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
