Well I bought the GMPP! I got the 3/36K one. I noticed in the fine print they can deny coverage if you do not keep up with the factory Maintenance schedule. Does anyone know if that means you have to take it to the dealer for those services? I am pretty handy and like to do my own oil changes and things of that nature.

Thanks

Re: Gmpp

good question!

one of my coworkers daughters just got into a wreck where it basically totaled the vehicle, 05 or something ford tarus. whatever happened she lost control of the car and hit a tree on the front right side.

AIRBAGS NEVER WENT OFF. b/c they never had the airbags serviced at the appropriate intervals FORD basically is giving them the middle finger.

Best follow the manufacture's recommended maintenance. Forget what the dealer tells you, he is just after your money - look in the owners manual. I have my oil changed once a year at the dealer just so there is a record.

Re: Gmpp

I'd definitely follow the owners manual at a minimum considering the potential payback for warranty coverage. I also save all of my Onstar diagnostics and oil life reports.

Re: Gmpp

Good advice. In between I do my own oil changes but once a year at the dealer because my manual says at least once a year. I don't put enough miles on to run the oil life indicator out.

Re: Gmpp

I get my changes once a year at the dealer..I only drive 10000 miles and mostly hwy.
Never uses any oil and it looks clean. Besides, I am not one for getting under a car anymore much after Mark Frydrich did
and got crushed to death.

Re: Gmpp

If you want to do your own work (oil changes, etc) be sure to save your receipts and write the mileage on them. That way, you can show when you purchased filters and oil if there were ever a problem. By law, they can't make you get serviced by a dealer, but they can deny the claim if you can't document that the work was done.

Re: Gmpp

I like to do my work myself and as mentioned, that qualifies if you keep impeccable records. Frankly, the GM dealers run enough specials that just for warranty reasons, i let them do it. However, be very firm that you will only allow the recommended items as spelled out in your manual. They will try to offer many useless and expensive services that simply aren't needed. They may also mention many alarming problems that don't exist. Take a hands on approach and you should be OK. BTW, if you have Onstar, keep the monthly diagnostic and oil life reports.
