Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

I know its illegal to have more than 4 lights on at once, but does anyone know how to make the fogs stay on when the high beams are on?

Re: Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

Yes it would. I saw a post in the CTS forums, but I cant find it anymore. Somebody asked the same thing there was a reply where somebody said he didn't know for sure, but that there is a way if you connect a wire from one relay to another, or something like that.

When I find that post I will post here what was said.

Hopefully it can't be that hard.

Re: Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

I found it and another one in the caters forum.

This is the CTS one.

From the looks of it, all it will take is one piece of wire that is about 12 inches long. The relays for the high, low and fog lights are under the hood. Just look for the high and fog. I would personally would grab the output terminal of the fog light to re-energize the high beam relay. That is if the computer puts out a positive output to energize the relay.*

If the computer puts out a ground instead of a positive, then I would buy another relay, common 12volt from a radio install shop would be fine. Hook that up to the fog light output side of the relay. Connect 85 to ground, 86 to the fog light out put. Then 30 to high beam output which will by pass the factory's relay. 87 you should put a 20amp fuse, or whatever the high beams currently use for a fuse and connect that to power.*

And this is the Catera one.

I got it working! thanks to DaveSmed and WarrenJ for there help. all you have to do is connect pin 87A to pin 30 on the High Beam RH relay. works like a charm.

Does anyone know if this or something similar will work on the STS?

Re: Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

the eletronics, i didnt build the car, but i figure more eletronics the more sensitive it might be to doing something like running the relay off the parking lights or something.

Re: Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

I have read online about it being done succesfully on other cars like hummers, altimas, and some others. But I was worried about blowing something too. I am going to ask this tech I know at Cadillac and see what he thinks. I was thinking that with some testing of the relays with my multi-meter I could do some figuring out before I start hooking wires up or bridging connections.

Re: Make fogs stay on with high-heam?

who knows, in 1 years time i might do it haha. did it to my last car actually. I ran the relay off the interior guage lights for when the parking lights come on. so it ran when i only turned on my parking lights.
