Recently the TCS has started activating when driving straight on the interstate. The car looses power and speed as it pulls to the right. This makes me think there is something wrong with a speed sensor on the passenger side. There are no warning lights on the dash, so before I go just throwing parts at the problem I decided to ask those in the know. Any info out there?
Thanks!

1. Is your car lowered?
2. What sizes are your tires (Front and Rear)?
3. Does car pull to right without warning or do you get traction control up on the heads up display?
4. Have you had the car scanned by the dealer yet?
I wish I didn't touch my car so much but here are the issues....
Lowering the vehicle seemed to have really messed with some of the sensors or parameters GM shipped the car with, I will get ABS and TC failure if I hit a bump or go over an incline, sometimes I don't even have to move and the system will trip, beginning to make me think it's just my vehicles bad YAW sensor but haven't confirmed it yet.
If you have improper size tires on the vehicle like I do (don't ask) then the wheels in the front and rear may be spinning at different speeds, hence when you get over a certain speed the car is attempting to correct the axle that is spinning faster than the others (computer sees it as loss of traction because of wheel speed sensors)
These cars as well as CTS have been known to have faulty YAW sensors, causing vehicles to throw themselves in barriers and cause issues that we shouldn't have to deal with.
Suggestion is you take it to the dealer and have them scan it and let you know what they find, don't let them fix anything unless you are sure that is the issue. |

"Traction Control Activated" comes up as soon as it starts acting up. I tested it again today. I got it to happen with the cruise control on. It deactivated the cruise control, which will happen if you have a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor. I will no more next week when I take it into my shop again.
My car is completely OEM, except for the grill and tint. Every part replaced came directly from Cadillac. One tire does have a different tread pattern than the rest on the side it is pulling towards... |

Interesting, let me know what they find when they scan it. Unfortuantly I can get my scanner to connect to the ECU that is throwing these codes. |

Not sure if this is your problem, but I had a 97 STS that kept tripping the TCS. Turned out to be a wheel bearing went bad, causing just enough friction on one wheel to trip the TCS. Changed the suspect bearing, and that wast that. |

Interesting, i think i need to purchase the Tech II to save on labour and be able to diagnose the shitbox on the spot when it happens. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
