Question After oil change noticed a drop in power

Remove this ad
Anyone else get this.

Took it to Massey Caddillac of orlando last week, I think they may have changed the oil to a non-synthetic. Would this rob the engine of power or should I be worried.

Only other thing that occurred was a tire change.

0-60 time is now 7+ seconds (rough checking with stop watch)

Notables:
2005 V8 44K

seemed noticeably peppier last week.

Thoughts...? Worries?

Re: After oil change noticed a drop in power

Do you have onstar?
If so have them run a dianosis, if not at 44k your warranty should still be in effect.

Anyway, I had a customer in a SAAB version of the GMC Envoy tell me that same thing after having the oil changed at Jiffy Lube. The only thing we could figure is that they used the wrong weight(10w-30 instead of 5w-30) oil...maybe. We changed it back to 5w-30 and she said it was alright after that. All of my friends who have switched over to Amsoil 0w-30 with me report a slight performance increase. I'm not saying that it is true and I did not promise them that...this is what they say. So, mabe you are correct.

Re: After oil change noticed a drop in power

Check the oil level also. Maybe an overfill.

Re: After oil change noticed a drop in power

Porkfarm is right. Overfill is an easy mistake because even with a filter change our N*'s can take less than the 8 quarts noted in the manual.

I'm convinced that my 2006 did not have 5W30 Mobil in it when I bought it. I wasn't in a huge hurry to change it. Since I did I have gotten at least 1MPG better mileage. I don't trust my senses on the performance side and don't have accurate times.

The 2007 was a Hertz and we changed the oil & filter on day 1.

Re: After oil change noticed a drop in power

Where do you see the factory warranty ends at 50,000? I called the dealership with my vin and they said 40,000.

ALL 05 and up STS's have a 50,000 mile or 4 year in service date warranty, or whichever comes first

Re: After oil change noticed a drop in power

Ok so a 2006 STS Factory warranty is 4 years/40,000 miles. Not ALL cadillacs are 50,000.
